This is a great, hands-on PRIVATE session for Beginners! Learn all the basic skills of knitting in just one lesson. We will cover casting on, casting off, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and combining knit & purl stitches to form patterns. As time permits, we are happy to show you how to count stitches & rows, learn how to identify stitches & read your work, as well as basic pattern reading. This is a great, hands-on PRIVATE lesson for beginners! Learn all the basic skills of crocheting in just one lesson. We will introduce you to all of the crochet basics, including slip knot, chain stitch, single, double & treble crochet, joining new yarn & how to read a pattern. During your lesson you will crochet a sampler of all the techniques & stitches taught. The sampler will be worked back & forth and then, time permitting, you can learn to turn corners, a skill needed to make “Granny Squares”. Leave it to the innovative minds at Berroco to come up with a wonderful project that will take us all through 2025 from January to December! For those of you who are not familiar with Mystery Knit-A-Longs (MKALs), they are projects that are, of course, a mystery! Sometimes, you have no clue what the end result will be, but usually you will know what the finished item will be but just not the details of pattern, stitches or construction.
Berroco announced that they were offering a year-long Blanket MKAL. Participants will all be making a blanket consisting of squares using many different construction techniques and stitch patterns The skill set for these squares will start off on the easier side and as the year progresses, participants will build more advanced skills. The perfect way to learn new stitches and techniques and an entire year to do it!
Cheryl & Judy are taking this MKAL to the next level and are offering monthly help sessions to guide you through the project and support you when you need it.
Please join Cheryl & Judy each month after the new square (or squares) are released and master all the techniques needed to create and complete each square. Cheryl & Judy are also both participating in the MKAL themselves, so it will be lots of fun seeing everyone’s different colour choices and progress each month.
These monthly workshops will be advertised each month along with the exact date, and you may sign up for however many sessions you would like to attend. No need to commit to the entire year, simply pick and choose when you would like to come. Be sure to register as soon as possible each month, as space is limited.
Session 1 will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:30.
